Development Specialist

Department: Development
Location: Atlanta, GA

Program Description:

The Development Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Development Department. This team player will bring a combination of strong organizational skills, creative energy, and technical proficiency to donor database management, donor engagement, and fundraising campaigns. The ideal candidate is a proactive project manager with exceptional attention to detail and a passion for CHRIS 180’s mission.

Role and Responsibilities:

Donor Database & Reporting

  • Manage the donor database (Raiser’s Edge), ensuring accurate and timely data entry, gift processing, and acknowledgments.
  • Create donor reports and mailing lists for solicitations, stewardship, and events.
  • Track donor trends and support data-informed decision-making.

Appeals & Campaigns

  • Collaborate on the planning, development, and execution of print and digital fundraising campaigns.
  • Draft compelling donor communications including appeal letters, email marketing, and newsletters.
  • Coordinate giving days, peer-to-peer campaigns, and holiday appeals.

Donor Cultivation & Stewardship

  • Assist in the development and implementation of a year-round stewardship calendar.
  • Support personalized donor engagement and recognition efforts.
  • Coordinate touchpoints and follow-up communications for new and recurring donors.

Project Management & Administrative Support

  • Provide project management support for development initiatives such as departmental priorities, fundraising events, donor stewardship plans, and marketing campaigns by ensuring timelines and tasks stay on track.
  • Independently manage logistical and administrative aspects of donor events, board meetings, and prospective donor visits.
  • Facilitate cross-departmental coordination to ensure alignment with communications and programmatic goals.
  • Work on other duties, tasks and projects assigned.

Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Three to five years of experience in non-profit fundraising, donor relations, or similar role.
  • Proficiency with donor CRM software (Raisers Edge preferred), and strong Excel reporting skills.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling donor content.
  • Exceptionally organized, with strong time management and follow-through.
  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiative, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Creative mindset and collaborative spirit, committed to continuous learning and improvement.

Salary: $55,000 - $65,000

Ideal Candidate Traits

  • Experience with email marketing tools and graphic design platforms.
  • Event coordination experience.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care or non-profit behavioral health a plus

Schedule:

Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-5:00 pm, with occasional after-hours and weekend events.
