Employment Coach

Department: Drop-in Center
Location: Atlanta, GA

Position Summary

The Employment Coach position at The Drop-In Center was created to enhance the Supported Employment and Supported Education Services that the Drop-In Center offers to clients. The Employment Coach is responsible for providing guidance, education, and support to young people as they make decisions that will guide their career and education choices for their future. The Employment Coach serves as the point person on collaborating with external resources to build partnerships with potential employers and prepare young adults with SPMI to not only obtain employment, but also maintain employment as well. The Employment Coach plays a key role on the interdisciplinary team at the Drop-In Center and takes lead on initiatives geared toward enhancing the Supported Employment services offered at The Spot.

Role and Responsibilities

This position provides case management to the participants in the program and the primary duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide positive role-modeling to consumers
    • Promote self-esteem
    • Promote healthy boundaries
    • Promote good hygiene and appropriate personal appearance among young adults
    • Reinforce socially acceptable behaviors (ex: manners, eating habits, personal safety)
    • Teach and reinforce thoughtful decision making
    • Teach and reinforce professionalism in work tasks and employment
  • Assessing consumers' history of trauma, strengths, and needs
    • Administer Ansell Casey Life Skills Assessment (ACLSA)
    • Aware of ACE score and implications on service planning
    • Develop goals for and monitor success of clients’ Individualized Service Plans
  • Coordinating Services and Collaboration
    • Make necessary referrals to meet consumer's health, well-being, education, mental health, and employment and future planning needs (i.e., Department of Public Health, Department of Family & Children Services, Georgia Department of Labor, employment staffing agencies, local colleges, and tech schools, etc.)
    • Facilitate and/or participate in Team Meetings for all consumers.
    • Collaborate and communicate with other programs in the CHRIS 180 continuum in the provision of services to consumers
    • Initiate marketing and outreach efforts to highlight Supported Employment/Supported Education Services offered at The Drop In Center
    • Collaborate and consult with other providers and entities in the provision of best care services to consumers
    • Monitor the provision of services provided
  • Specific services to consumers
    • Meet with consumers on an individual and group basis (can include daily, weekly, and/or monthly for light case management depending on progress in program).
  • Willingness to work with clients in the community
    • Evaluate individual progress and communicate such to consumers and other stakeholders
    • Transport residents to and from service-related activities when needed (mileage reimbursed)
    • Facilitate life skill activities specific to obtaining and maintaining employment (ex. conflict resolution, resume building, interviewing skills, dressing for success, etc) to improve skills needed to live independently and maintain gainful employment.
    • Provide emotional support to residents in managing daily living and challenges associated with obtaining/maintaining employment
    • Communicate with resident advisors, program management, and/or therapist regarding services and needs of residents
    • Audit resident charts as assigned
    • Maintain and record receipts
    • Maintain complete understanding of Accenture’s Skills to Succeed Learning Exchange and Facebook’s Blueprint Program
    • Assist in developing a detailed training curriculum for both programs in collaboration with The Program Manger
  • Documentation Requirements
    • Provide resident updates in Case Notes
    • Complete Incident Reports as needed prior to shift end
    • Work collaboratively with Program Manager to ensure DBHDD outcomes and measures are adequately tracked throughout program and reported at the end of each month.
    • Ensure an organized system of data tracking is in place prior to services being rendered to consumers
    • Assist in creating dynamic data reports that speak to deliverables outlined in DBHDD standards for funding
  • Performance and Conduct
    • Maintain confidentiality of consumer information
    • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries
    • Follow the CHRIS 180 Code of Ethics
    • Follow mandated reporting requirements of GA Code
    • Support and maintain an environment of emotional and physical safety for consumers, staff, and other stakeholders at all times
  • Demonstrate customer service
    • Promote positive image of CHRIS 180 programs at all times
    • Work as a contributing and collaborative team member
    • Respond to consumer and peer needs in a timely fashion
    • Answer telephone calls and emails accordingly
    • Respond to requests for information from stakeholders in a timely fashion
  • Maintain Personal Information and Training
    • Attend and participate in staff meetings as scheduled
    • Attend and participate in required trainings as scheduled
    • Maintain required certifications
    • Review, understand and responsible to program policies
    • Provide documents in a timely fashion to Human Resources
    • Report changes in status to HR as required by policy

Qualifications/Competencies

  • 3 – 5 years in field working with homeless young adults/and or life experience with homelessness
  • Experience working with young adults with mental illness and/or substance abuse issues
  • Experience working with Supported Employment/Supported Education Programs
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field such as social work, psychology, education counseling is preferred
  • Experience writing BIRP notes preferred
  • Experience with billing services to Medicaid strongly preferred

Salary: $40,000.00

Schedule:

The Full Time Supported Employment Coach works an average of 80 hours bi-weekly

  • Occasional requests to work on Saturdays when needed (schedule allows for flexibility of 40 hours per week)
  • The work schedule requires flexibility to meet the needs of the program and availability on an emergency basis. Primary hours are between 9:00am-6:00pm
  • Due to schedule or other operations necessities, the organization may transfer an employee to another location or shift, either on a temporary or permanent basis as this position is an employee of CHRIS 180, not the program
